Unit 3: Perspective
The 2D Design Perspective unit will explore 4 main ideas:
|
DAVID HOCKNEY
We will learn about British artist David Hockney and his contribution to the contemporary art world. Hockney twists the rules of perspective to create contemplative landscapes and still lives for his audience. |
Visual Problem:
Create a series of MONOPRINTS that use perspective, value, overlapping and mark making techniques to show a landscape that you've imagined.
Create a series of MONOPRINTS that use perspective, value, overlapping and mark making techniques to show a landscape that you've imagined.
After an exploration of the world of printmaking, we will discuss the idea of monoprints and creating a series of artworks that relate to each other. Students will use new materials and processes to create their prints.
Print Evaluations:
1. Perspective – Does the print demonstrate the effective use of viewpoint, vanishing points? Does the print demonstrate use of other forms of perspective ie: atmospheric perspective? Has the artist created the illusion of 3 dimensional forms? Do the forms look as if they occupy space and have volume? 2. Value – Does the print make effective use of at least 4 distinct values? Are different values contrasted against one another to create a “balance” of tone? Are values rendered consistently? Is the light source obvious? 3. Overlapping – Does the print make use of overlapping to increase the sense of 3 dimensions and distance? 4. Markmaking - Does the print successfully utilize repetitive marks to hold the image together? Is there a style to the print that is tied to the way the Caran D’Ache crayons are applied? |
